¼″ Tungsten Cubes
These Derby Monkey Tungsten Cubes are 1/4 inch square (0.25″ x 0.25″ x 0.25″). We sell more of these than any other Pinweood Derby car weight.
Tungsten is the world's 4th heaviest metal. It weighs up to 1.8x as much as lead and over 3x the weight of the Zinc/Pewter weights. This is the perfect weight for Pinewood Derby Cars.
Instead of the competitors 15 - 17 cubes for 2 oz, which means they contain a high amount of other alloy's. It only takes 12 cubes of ours. Less space, means more weight concentration in the CG area and faster building time.
Tungsten is a safe non-toxic metal.

These Tungsten cubes are made specifically for Pinewood Derby cars and has its own alloy formula to weigh more than other tungsten cubes. Why, because with our cubes it will take less of them and will cost less. Just because someone says "solid Tungsten" does not mean they really are. Tungsten by itself is materially unstable and is easily shattered no matter how it is sintered (formed). Since all Tungsten forms are mixed with a bonding alloy of either Nickel, Copper, Iron or a combination of them, the atomic density will vary. We have specified the heaviest density of Tungsten (W) percentage to bonding alloy that is possible.
